Location:

The Pompano Beach is dramatically situated overlooking Bermuda's southwest coast, adjacent to the Robert Trent Jones designed Port Royal Golf Course, in Southampton parish. The resort's location is considered one of the best beachfront settings on the island, offering breathtaking ocean views from every part of the property. Since the resort is tucked away from the island's main road, guests feel as though they've escaped to a private, secluded hideaway - yet, they are only minutes away from the best that Bermuda has to offer. Most of the island's popular south shore beaches (Horseshoe, Warwick Long Bay and Church Bay) are a mere ten-minute ride from the resort. Pompano is approximately 45 minutes from Bermuda's international airport and 25 minutes from the capital city of Hamilton. The resort provides complimentary shuttle van transportation to/from the bus stop (which is conveniently located near the resort's entrance gate) and to/from the nearby Rockaway ferry stop (where you can enjoy a scenic boat ride to/from Hamilton). Golfers love the fact that the resort is right next to Port Royal, the island's top rated public golf course (with the first tee only a 500 yard walk away) and only a ten to fifteen minute drive from three more quality golf courses (Riddell's Bay, Belmont Hills and Fairmont Southampton).

Things to do:

Our Bermuda beach resort has its own private beach, with plenty of chaise lounges, sand chairs and beach umbrellas for you to use on a complimentary basis. At low tide, you can wade out over 400 yards in knee to chest deep water, along the resort's spectacular sandbar. Watersports enthusiasts and people of all ages and swimming abilities are attracted to the waterfront because of how shallow and crystal clear it is. The shallowness of the water combined with silky smooth white sand enables you to see fish swimming along the sandbar. It's always comforting when you can see what's in the water around you and when you can touch the sand below you. Bride's Magazine has called Pompano's waterfront "the best underwater beach in the world". Put on your mask, fins and snorkel and explore the brilliant coral reefs which line the edge of the shallow sandbar. Grab a "noodle" or lilo (both are available for guests to use on a complimentary basis) and float effortlessly, while basking in the warm Bermuda sunshine. Meander along the shallow coastline, in knee deep water, and find a secluded cove along the shoreline to relax in. The choice is yours. One thing's for sure - you simply won't find a more picturesque waterfront in Bermuda or on a Caribbean beach vacation to explore! The resort's heated, oceanfront swimming pool is dramatically situated overlooking their spectacular waterfront (over the years, Pompano's stunning pool deck has been one of the Bermuda Department of Tourism's favorite spots to do photo shoots - including a recent one involving supermodel, Tyra Banks). The bright white balustrade railing set against the different shades of blue found in the ocean and sky, creates a sensational setting, with a bit of a Mediterranean feel. Unlike many other resorts, Pompano's pools and jacuzzis are open 24 hours a day. The main pool has depths measuring from three to five feet. An inviting in-ground jacuzzi with powerful jets and a glass front edge which water cascades over, juts slightly into the center section of the pool. Red and white striped towels are available on the pool deck for guests to use on a complimentary basis at the pool, beach and dock areas. An ample supply of chaise lounges, chairs and umbrella tables are available as well. Food and beverage service from the adjacent Pool Bar and Coral Reef Café is available daily. The pool and beach areas are stocked with numerous, colorful styrofoam "noodles" for guests to use as floatation devices on a complimentary basis. A large, square-shaped wading/kiddie pool sits adjacent to the main pool. Pompano is the only small resort in Bermuda to offer this type of a shallow water pool. Small children enjoy frolicking in the 1 ½ foot deep kiddie pool. When kids aren't present, adults often stretch out in this shallow pool to enjoy a good book or catch some rays. An outdoor shower and faucet are conveniently situated atop the beach steps, enabling guests to wash sand off before entering the pool deck and jacuzzi areas.

Local Attractions:

The Pompano Beach Club in Southampton Bermuda is a golfer's paradise because the newly renovated Robert Trent Jones designed Port Royal Golf Course (which has been ranked among the top public golf courses in the world) is right next door. The first tee is only 500 yards from Pompano and many of the resort's guest rooms have a great view of Port Royal's oceanfront 8th green. Unlike in the Caribbean, the Bermuda climate helps maintain the lush driving ranges and putting greens, making your Bermuda golf experience a year round event. Tee times at Port Royal can be pre-arranged in advance of your arrival and the resort will transport both you and your clubs to/from the golf course during your stay. When all is said and done, the Bermuda government will have spent close to twenty million dollars improving Port Royal. An elaborate irrigation system has been installed - to keep the course lush green all year long - and all the greens, fairways and sand traps have been re-shaped and manicured to perfection. The PGA was so impressed with Port Royal's enhancements that they've decided to hold their prestigious PGA Grand Slam event (which involves the winners of the year's four major PGA tournaments competing head to head) at Port Royal in October 2009 and October 2010. Port Royal's 2009 green fees have yet to be finalized as the course is not scheduled to re-open until February 2009. It is situated on some of Bermuda's most beautiful oceanside terrain. Four holes on the back nine (10, 15, 16 and 18) and three holes on the front nine (7, 8 and 9) offer breathtaking oceanviews, while three additional holes on the back nine (11, 12 and 13) have dramatic views of the Great Sound - so be sure to bring your camera!
